Fall Celebrations

Winter, Spring, Summer or AUTUMN baby!!
Liam's preschool had a Fall Festival this week - he is Buzz Lightyear down the front.
Always keen to do something crafty and new I thought I'd try my hand at pumpkin carving this year. It was great fun, a little RSI risky but very therapeutic.

Ashley's school had a story book parade this week. She is the blue cinderella with her classmates and beloved teacher, Mrs Berkley.

American Football

Some of you may remember Bill who stayed with us a few months before we left. Bill is a Houstonian and his wife Helen, very kindly offered us tickets to the Houston Texans v San Francisco 49ers American Football game on the weekend. The tickets included pre-game brunch and access to the field to watch the teams warm up. The car park fills up with "Tailgaters" who bring their RV's, BBQs and TVs and set themselves up for the game. Similar to the Melbourne Cup concept I guess but definitely a sight.

Texan players

Then could you believe it? out walks George Bush and George W about 15 metres in front of us!!
They went all out to impress us with soldiers parachuting through the roof top, past idol singer performing (don't know his name, big guy), marching bands - the lot.

The secret service looked just like they do in the movies!

Then all eyes were on the cheer leaders as they did their stuff - no pyramids though apparently that's for college football.

I enjoyed learning about the game and found myself cheering for the Texans as they claimed victory. We had a great day and can put another notch in our belt of experiences in America!

Webb Tid Bits

This is us at the local Starbucks. Baby cinos haven't caught on here but it's something our kids always want and the staff are generally happy to oblige.
Liam has now played 3 official soccer games. Well, 'played' might be a slight misinterpretation of actual events. Running aimlesly around the field, swinging on the goal mesh, eating food, occassionally kicking the ball (most often in the wrong direction) and crying 'because the other team keeps taking the ball off me' are probably more accurate ways to describe it. It's rather funny to watch but I guess you've gotta start somewhere and he looks so cute in his jersey!

Liam got to bring home Billy Bear from preschool. He got to stay with us for a few days and we (Cara) had to write a journal of all the funs things they did. Here they are helping Simon assemble some furniture.

Only in America

We reckon these photos are worthy of Rove's segment "What the???" .
Ahh no thanks, I'm full.

The kids and I found this cross between a spider and a crab in our garden. I was a bit worried about our shelled visitor but after some Googling discovered that he is native to this area and non-toxic to the human race. He's called a spiny orbweaver (or if you wanna get real fancy Gasteracantha cancriformis).
Just a bit of fluff information I thought I'd share with you.
